"The Mezcal Trail" The 7 regions of Mezcal with Chef Roberto Santibanez and Junior Merino
Did you know that mezcal dates back to pre-hispanic times? And that there are 7 producing regions of this ancient elixir in the Denomination of Origin in Mexico? Each one influenced not only by the terroir, but also by the flavors, heritage and traditions of their region. From historical Oaxaca to Durango, the land of scorpions and cinema, join Chef Roberto Santibanez, former culinary director of Rosa Mexicano and Executive Chef and Owner of Fonda Restaurant in Brooklyn, alongside world renowned Master Mixologist Junior Merino, for a unique tasting seminar as they explore the regional cuisines, legends, culture and rich history surrounding one of Mexico's most ancient spirits.
Become a Mezcal afficionado. Taste and learn to appreciate the characteristics, processes, varietal profiles, and techniques of each mezcal, many of which are not available in the U.S. Imagine being invited for breakfast to the house of a top chef, who also happens to be a chocolate (cacao) historian? Join Chef Maricel Presilla for a delightful morning filled with history, delicious pastries and coffee pairings (ticket price includes all food and beverages). 4% of all event ticket sales will benefit Grow NYCs (formerly the Council of the Environment of New York City) New Farmers Development Project that helps immigrant farmers New York's Hudson Valley & Catskill Regions, New Jersey and northeastern Pennsylvania.
