The Lotus Position - Rhinofest 2015
The Recollection Series presents David Joel Thomas' The Lotus Position
Lotus Position by David Joel Thomas is a play in one act of two characters: Mnemosyne and the Poet. Mnemosyne (Memory), the mother of the Muses, inspires the vivid recollections of the Poet. Read on two levels, the play is, on the one hand, a performative account of the poetic process, and, on the other, a post mortem of the Poet's life. On both levels, it is a story of love and travesty, of vigilance, commitment, and deadly seriousness. The play's low, mournful thunder is the sound of the contest between memory and oblivion, desire and death.
