An Introduction to Michael Chekhov: Centers, Psychological Gesture, and Qualities of Movement
Taught by Julia Beers
This class will focus on introducing Psychological Gesture as a tool for distilling and exploring a character's essence. Psychological Gesture is an immediate physical tool into a character; think of it as table work for your body! We'll also explore how body centers and Michael Chekhov's qualities of movement can give you infinite ways of shaping the gesture work for both characters studies and scene work. If you've ever worked on portraying multiple characters; needed to make swift and visceral choices for an audition; or are simply interested in exploring a fresh approach to scene work, this is the class for you.
