Studio BE, pH PRODUCTIONS, and DFT EVENTS Present: COMIC RUMBLE

CHICAGO- Studio BE announced this week that they will partner with their resident comedy troupe pH PRODUCTIONS and DFT Events in producing a three week, Stand Up Comic competition at Studio BE. This comic rumble will take place over three weekends, Fridays & Saturdays at 10pm, May 7-8, 14-15, with semifinals on May 21st and finals on May 22nd. Winner of the competition receives a cash prize and will EMCEE the May 28th third annual 'Rocking for Vet's Health' event at the Abbey Pub. Tickets for the event are $15 and can be found at www.Studio-BE.org. One third of all proceeds go directly to the Chicago Veterans Assistance Hospital. Following this three week 'Comic Rumble' will begin an open run of the wildly successful 'Stand Up @ The BE' every Saturday night at 10pm, $10 tickets. Press are invited to attend all event dates.

The Event: 'Comic Rumble'
Each night will feature five up and coming Chicago comics all competing for your laughs, a cash prize, and a chance to host the '3rd Annual Rockin for Vet's Health' at the Abbey Pub May 28th. Only 1 comic each night will move on to the Grand Finale... and only one will emerge victorious. Comics
will do their sets in an arena style seating arrangement and perform in the round.

Stand Up @ The BE:
Studio BE coproduces the showcase with comedian/improvisers Kenny Metroff and is proud to welcome on board Chicago legend Kelsie Huff to the team. Metroff approached Studio BE with the idea of producing Stand Up @ The BE in early September, with the intent of offering opportunities and stage time for Chicago' untapped and incredibly talented Stand Up community. The showcase began as a one time, only slightly publicized, event on a Friday night and was so successful that is turned into twelve more performances. Now Studio BE is launching an open run of the event beginning May 29th, every Saturday at 10pm. It is hands down one of the best opportunities in Chicago for these fresh young comics to pour their souls out and make you laugh. Each Showcase features between 5-7 comics doing hilarious stand up sets in this hour and a half showcase. Tickets are $10 online at www.studio-be.org, or can be purchased at the door.

About Studio BE:
Incorporated in February of 2009, Studio BE, NFP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The venue only opened the doors in July to its brand new 3000 square foot performing arts venue. Founded by company directors Aaron Shapiro (Executive Director) and Tamara Drew (Artistic Director of Youth Programming) the facility was designed for versatility. Studio BE transforms into an intimate 75 seat, cabaret style venue for Stand Up @ The BE. Studio BE has over the last year exploded onto the comedy scene in the improve corridor on Chicago's North Side. Studio BE hosts between 8-12 comedy events weekly and features resident comedy troupe pH PRODUCTIONS six shows each week, including their sold out hit, Breakfast Club the Musical.

pH Productions is a performance ensemble dedicated to educating and exposing non-traditional audiences to live theater. pH's original comedic productions continually test the boundaries of form, humor and audience participation to provide the highest quality entertainment.

About DFT EVENTS:
DFT Events is a Chicago based promotion company who organizes several different charity events donating to local Chicago non-profit companies. DFT Events was started in 2005 by Kevin Ambron, who was involved in the local Chicago music scene. Mr. Ambron decided he wanted to give back to his community by organizing charity shows with local Chicago bands. DFT Events has organized charity shows for organizations such as Red Cross, Brian Deneke Memorial fund, Maryville Academy, and local Chicagoland VA Hospitals. DFT Events presents the 3rd annual Rocking for Vet's Health, which will take place on Friday May 28, 2010 at The Abbey Pub (3420 W Grace Chicago, IL). The concert features 10 local and touring bands playing throughout
the whole evening; there will also be a raffle where participants can win various prizes. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Chicagoland veteran affairs hospital.
