Jeff Goode's POONA THE FUCKDOG and other plays for children is, quite literally children's theatre for grown-ups. Considered too shocking for the theater that originally commissioned it, Open Circle Theater premiered Poona ten years ago. Constructed in classic storybook style, Goode's fairy tales unfolds with a hysterical punch that keeps the audience off-guard and howling with laughter. The central story is, of course, The Adventures of Poona, about a lonely girl's quest to find someone to play in her big pink box.
No one is spared in Poona's leg-humping assault on the power of language.
