Best Practice: Managing Early Breastfeeding Challenges

Who Should Attend? * Maternity or pediatric nurse or healthcare staff working with new families * Obstetrician, midwife, pediatrician or family medicine physician involved with early infant feeding and parenting issues * Obstetric and pediatric clinic staff * Childbirth educator * Labor and postpartum doula * Occupational or respiratory therapist working with breastfeeding newborns * Registered Dietician working with pregnant women, new mothers and their babies.
Course Description: This one-day workshop provides an intensive approach to the basics of breastfeeding promotion and early feeding issues in the hospital, clinic and community. It is a helpful and effective beginning for education in research-based infant feeding, as well as an excellent update for IBCLCs and others who are interested in applying science to the practice of infant feeding. Continuing education credits have been applied for 7 IBLCE CERPS, 7 CPE hours, category II for RDs, and 7 contact hours for nurses through the California Board of Registered Nursing. Funded by Washington State WIC Nutrition Program, and hosted by SeaMar Olympia WIC and South Sound Breastfeeding Network. Continental breakfast and lunch provided.
