Green to Gold: Cleantech Energy Conference
On April 10th, 2010, Georgetown Universitys McDonough School of Business will host a precedent setting conference on the development of the clean energy economy. This conference will feature clean energy leaders from venture capital, private equity, government, non-profits and business who will come together to discuss their perspectives on what the future of the clean energy economy holds.
We are especially excited to welcome James Woolsey as our keynote speaker. Mr. Woolseys has spent his career providing thought leadership in the development of energy and security policy. In particular, his current involvement in supporting the development of clean technology companies and policies gives Mr. Woolsey unique insights into the interplay of finance, technology and public policy.
In addition to Mr. Woolseys keynote address, this conference will feature a panel discussion on current trends in venture capital and private equity investing in clean tech. This panel will feature some of Washington D.C.s leading cleantech investors discussing their experiences from the front lines of the fastest growing area of venture investing. This panel will be followed by a discussion of the policy environment that is driving the cleantech revolution. With landmark climate and energy legislation pending in the Congress, international climate negotiations on-going, and many states considering renewable energy mandates, the policy environment is increasingly taking a front seat in determining what businesses and technologies succeed in cleantech. This panel will explore these trends and provide insights into what is coming in the future. Finally, Michael Moynihan, Director of Green Programs at progressive think-tank NDN will be presenting his recently released research paper, Electricity 2.0. Mr. Moynihan and NDN have put together an impressive piece of research outlining how the American electric sector can be transformed to enable a clean energy revolution.
