Miss Martha's Kitchen Throwdown
You're invited to a cooking contest that's good for the body and soul at the Martha O'Bryan Center.
For your body: Enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres for noshing and complimentary wine and beer to wash it down during a timed cooking contest which pairs amateurs with local chefs to see who can most impress the judges with their culinary expertise.
For your soul: You'll be helping the Center meet the needs of Martha O'Bryan Center's service area, where Nashville's poorest families have difficulty accessing healthy and nourishing food.
For your walls: There will be a silent auction of photographic art created by Martha O'Bryan middle school students, so come prepared to bid!
For a good cause: The Center's service area is considered a "food desert," a district with little or no access to foods needed to maintain a healthy diet but often served by plenty of fast food restaurants. The concept of "access" may be interpreted in three ways a physical access, financial access and mental attitude or food knowledge. All proceeds from Miss Martha's Kitchen Throwdown will support the Martha O'Bryan Center, including an initiative to provide food education and free transportation to local grocery stores.
For our neighbors: A group of Martha O'Bryan Center volunteers is organizing this fundraiser to help improve food access for residents in Cayce Place, the CWA-Plaza apartments and the surrounding 37206 neighborhood.
For real: Purchase tickets for Miss Martha's Kitchen Throwdown. Good food. Good fun for a Good cause.
