Grab your bag (of popcorn) and take off on a whirlwind trip to places most Seattle kids never get a chance to see. With these films, you'll walk through a downpour in Indonesia, stop a rooster fight in Venezuela, climb a mountain in eastern Turkey, ride a bus in Iraq and experience a whole new country for the first time.

Galus Galus
(Clarissa Duque, Venezuela, 2013, animation, 11:44 min) In Spanish with English subtitles.
A homeless man shows us the city of Caracas and his determination to survive next to his faithful feathered friend.

Agri and the Mountain
(Hasan Serin, Turkey, 2013, live action, 14 min) In Kurdish and Turkish, with English subtitles.
A child must traverse steep and snowy terrain to get to school.

War Canister
(Yahya Al-Allaq, Iraq/UK, 2013, live action, 11 min) In Arabic with English subtitles.
A young deaf boy is forced to steal oil to support his family. When he misplaces the oil, he knows he has to find it, fast.

On Stopping the Rain
(Aditya Ahmad, Indonesia, 2014, live action, 14 min) In Makassarese with English subtitles.
A girl wants to wear her new shoes, but it won't stop raining. She takes action by following an old superstition involving a household item.

New
(Eefje Blankevoort, Netherlands, 2014, live action, 19 min) In Dutch, Ugandan and English, with English subtitles.
A boy from Uganda arrives in the Netherlands, and everything is completely different.

For ages 10+.
Notes to parents: One film, On Stopping the Rain, revolves around an Indonesian superstition of tossing your underwear on the roof makes the rain stop. The film also includes limited smoking. War Canister deals with stealing, though for a moral cause.
