Event

Illegal Tint
Who:
Two characters; Physical and Audible, and a fence. Audience is close at hand.

What:
A weaving of physical aggression explored in various characters, and an audible sentiment of songs delivered via acapella and a single guitar. Two characters communicate with one another through the obstacle of a fence in different states of closeness; behind, above, apart, together, and in frozen states. Silent and melancholy melodies are juxtaposed with acts of physical aggression on the fence, and a final meeting of the two characters deliver a message about the lines(fence) we cross through our personal alter egos we live with in order to fit into society. Original and holiday songs intersperse throughout the journey displaying a dissonant dichotomy between the physical realm and the sentimental heart.

Where:
A borderline.

When:
The Past(behind), the Present(above), and the Future(together/apart)
Time: Nightime, in low light. Audience, who is in close proximity, uses flashlights to view the details of the characters throughout the journey.

Why:
To deliver a message about our interaction with individual personalities though the lines we cross, how we manage to confront the lines(obstacles), and how to take it into our future(emblems).

How:
A 15'-0" long by 8'-0" chain link fence is stretched and stands alone supported on each end. Character One begins behind the fence and interacts with the fence using different objects representing symbols of death, hinderance, baggage we carry, glory, faith, and physical struggle through the piece. Character Two uses one object, a guitar, and begins in front of the fence and interacting with the obstacle on a subconscious level using songs as a audible symbol reaching beyond the physical boundaries and into the soul of heart of weakness and memories. In the end the characters meet for a brief moment to exchange a link between the ultimate faith of Character One, and the Vocal Deliverance of Character Two.
