This program is made possible by the Stanley R. Epstein Memorial Fund at the Yiddish Book Center.
The music of the Jewish immigrant community conveyed the meaning of home in a wide variety of ways, through songs about wandering, love, food, nostalgia, family, religious observance, politics, and more. Hankus Netsky, one of the leading figures of the klezmer revival and the contemporary Yiddish music scene, explores what we can learn about Jewish home life in the New World by looking at the Jewish music of the immigrant era. _____________________________________________________________
