Event
Hip Hop 101 with Dr. Hood
With over 12 years of experience teaching adults as well as years of experience performing and promoting events in the Pittsburgh hip-hop community, I have decided to bring hip-hop to a new forum.
As co-owner of the Proud To Be Local event series and co-founder of the Pittsburgh Underground Music Awards (www.pghundergroundmusicawards.com), I have come to realize that demographic of hip-hop lovers is extremely diverse! A good number of people are interested in taking part in the art of hip-hop, but may not be sure how to go about doing so.
The purpose of this workshop series is to educate anyone interested in learning the history and various aspects of hip-hop. While there is much more to hip-hop than what is presented in this series, a foundation will be provided for the attendees to nurture their interest, continue to learn more, and even become more involved in the local hip-hop scene. THIS WORKSHOP IS INTENDED FOR THOSE AGE 21+. Future workshops may be offered for younger participants. If you or someone is interested in this workshop series for those under 21, please send an email to hollyhood156@gmail.com to receive information about future events.
Students will be encouraged to create, record, and perform [optional] a song developed under the guidance of workshop mentors. Songs will be compiled into a downloadable mixtape.
