Time and Place
East Coast Premiere of TIME AND PLACE

Portrait of Lee Moses, highly gifted deep soul singer and songwriter long forgotten by his hometown Atlanta.

Lee Moses made one album and recorded about thirty songs. Most of them were covers of other songs.

He became a legend among deep soul record collectors and general music fans. Often compared to James Brown or Jimi Hendrix, his only album Time and Place, was recorded in New York and released in 1971. It was a commercial failure forcing Lee Moses to return to his hometown to never record again. What happened to the man nicknamed the Duke of Soul ?

This is the portrait of a man who was a good friend, a brother and a top-notch musician. Through his music, life and hometown, this is a featured documentary about the life and death of Lee Moses.

"LEE MOSES RELEASED A STRING OF SINGLES NOTABLE FOR THEIR ROUGH-HEWN SOUTHERN SOUL PRODUCTIONS AND AN ALBUM THATS SINCE BECOME A CULT CLASSIC DESPITE NOT FINDING AN AUDIENCE WHEN IT WAS RELEASED. YET LITTLE IS KNOWN ABOUT LEE BEYOND BASIC BIOGRAPHICAL DETAILS AND UP UNTIL VERY RECENTLY, ONLY A MUCH RECYCLED PHOTO OF THE ATLANTA MUSICIAN WAS KNOWN TO EXIST. A NEW DOCUMENTARY FILM IS SET TO PUT THE RECORD STRAIGHT.

THE DOCUMENTARY TIME AND PLACE, PRODUCED AND DIRECTED BY FILMMAKER SIMON DAVID FOCUSES ON MOSESS LIFE AND THE SOUL SCENE IN ATLANTA DURING THE 70S. SIMON DESCRIBES HIS FILM AS A VERY PERSONAL INSIGHT INTO WHAT MOSES LIFE WAS LIKE. IN THE FILM, SIMON SPOKE TO SOME OF THE MUSICIANS WHO KNEW AND WORKED WITH LEE." Shindig Magazine
