Life and Debt w/Film and Jamaican Dinner

Stephanie Black will be present to speak about her film at Utica, NY's Premier Showing of "Life and Debt" at the Resource Center for Independent Living-Dorothy Smith Advocacy, one of the two venues that will simultaneously show this film.
This film, which documents economic and fiscal policies of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank on the economy of Jamaica uses text from Jamaica Kincaid's short story "a small place" to add literary texture.
Ms. Black will have just returned from Jamaica, so patrons will receive an current eyewitness account of events occurring surrounding opposition to IMF and World Bank's policies.
Ms. Black will speak at 6:30. Dinner is also served at 6:30 The movie begins at 7pm. The Jamaican Cuisine at this venue will be catered by students in the Leaf, Loaf and Ladle Hospitality Program, and the meal is designed by Debra Richardson, program director of Leaf, Loaf and Ladle. There will be a panel discussion of Utican community members after the movie.
This is a fundraiser for the St. Sophia Scholarship Fund, to raise tuition funds to teach women household management skills through the Family Place. The Prodigal Daughter Course is a program of the HeartSoul Ekonomia Institute.
