Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe & Ariel Kalma

A pioneer in the field of modularly synthesized electronic music, Ariel Kalma finds an ideal collaborator in Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, who has gained renown for meditative modular and voice improvisations as Lichens. The two electronic synth voyagers came together recently, an intergenerational collaboration that yielded the recent LP "We Know Each Other Somehow" (2015) on FRKWYS imprint.

Esteemed composer and violinist Malcolm Goldstein presents a four-part solo program dedicated to the late Ornette Coleman. Goldstein performs Trinity, Coleman's 1986 work composed for him, as well as two improvisatory pieces, and his own My feet is tired, but my soul is rested (1985), showcasing the performer in a rare embrace of powerful melody, influenced by American blues.

Artist-In-Residence Lea Bertucci explores the sonic qualities of a decrepit alto sax uncovered from Bradley Eros' basement, with a live collage of 35mm slide and 16mm film projections by Eros. Anthony Saunders, of seminal harsh noise group Bastard Noise, performs with Bertucci on bass clarinet, celebrating the duo's first cassette.

Artist-In-Residence C. Spencer Yeh presents a series of new works investigate intersections of tape and live performance, and composition with improvisation. A "portrait" combines real-time performance and pre-arranged recordings as a subjective homage. Another piece is built from acoustic recordings of Columbia's electronically-defunct RCA Mark II Synthesizer.
