SOLI Chamber Ensemble

Giving voice to 20th- and 21st-century contemporary compositions, SOLI Chamber Ensemble has been shattering classical music stereotypes for more than 20 years. And, in 2013, Chamber Music America and ASCAP honored SOLI with its Adventurous Programming Award.

As award-winning performers, SOLIs highly talented musicians sustain a passionate commitment to commissioning and premiering new works by emerging and established composers. In its first 24 years, SOLI commissioned 50 new works from todays most exciting composers, such as Ned Rorem, Paul Moravec, Pierre Jalbert, Steven Mackey, Robert X. Rodriguez, Dan Welcher, Peter Lieuwen, Alexandra Gardner, Clarice Assad, David Heuser, Tim Kramer, Matthew Aucoin, Doug Balliett, Xi Wang, and many others.

SOLI has been Ensemble in Residence at Trinity University since 2008 and annually takes its residency program on tour to other universities throughout the U.S. The ensemble also creates chamber music experiences for young, aspiring musicians through its SOLI Saturdays program.

SOLI has received numerous awards and grants from the Aaron Copland Fund for Music, New Music USAs Creative Connections, Meet the Composer, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Argosy Foundation, and the City of San Antonio, among others and has performed as a Showcase Ensemble at the 2016 CMA National Conference.
