Yuletide 2014
Produced by Arizona Curriculum Theater, our fifth annual Yuletide features the ancient sounds of Bartholomew Faire. From festive cantigas to the ever-popular French Noels, these versatile masters of early music will journey deep into the past and evoke the musical roots of our holiday traditions.
Hungry saturnalians, wounded Celtic warriors, German fairies, Saint Nick's evil friend Krampus, an Italian Christmas witch named La Befana, lots of ancient seasonal music, and more. Yuletide is a holiday experience not to be missed.
Designed for adults and appropriate for children aged eight years and older, Yuletide features early music ensemble Bartholomew Faire using a collection of reproduction instruments to play ancient seasonal music spanning centuries from across the world. Some of the instruments you can hear in Yuletide include-- al' ud, citole, drone ocarina, organistrum, recorder, lute, gothic harp, gothic bagpipes, pipe & tabor, and more.
Only four shows -- don't miss out. December 12, 13, 19 & 20, 8:00PM, at St. Augustine's Parish in Tempe, AZ.
Joining Bartholomew Faire on stage will be our ACT Inc. actors to perform a variety of readings fitting for the season, including poetry from ancient Wales and Ireland, tales from ancient Rome, Germany, the Alps, and Italy, and much, much more.
Yuletide will transport audiences to another place and time where they will hear the voices of the distant past and experience the ancient musical roots of our holiday season.
All proceeds from Yuletide benefit Arizona Curriculum Theater, a federally-recognized 501(c)3 educational organization.
