Dose Hermanos: Bob Bralove & Tom Constanten - presented by Gualala Arts
Two veterans of the psychedelic rock scene create adventurous instrumental improvisations on acoustic pianos.

Drawing on their influences in rock, classical, jazz, and the avant-garde, they dazzle you with their musical psychic connection.

This dynamic duo will perform in the Coleman Auditorium on a 9-foot Yamaha and 7-foot Mason-Hamlin concert grand pianos for a special evening that will be captured for possible future release.

Bob Bralove and Tom Constanten crossed paths in the psychedelic swirl of the Grateful Dead. Tom, a keyboard player with the band in the late 1960s and early 1970s, while Bralove was the MIDI Wizard, song writer and a producer for the band from the late 1980s until the band stopped in 1995. This gave them a shared foundation in rock improvisation.

Both of them studied formal composition and are well versed in the language of the musical avant-garde. They have been playing together on the stages of the USA and Japan for 18 years and "Batique" (released in March, 2014) is their first CD that is exclusively performed on acoustic pianos.

Their musical connection, which was forged in the heat of psychedelics, is amazing. They can finish each other's musical phrases and seem to have a compatibility which does not negate their differences but enhances them.

The instrumental adventures in "Batique" run the gamut from the sophistication of Igor Stravinsky to the passion and joy of children. Their musical influences and references are numerous but their sound is unique.

Tickets are $15 advance; $5 more day of concert (buy your tickets early!). Young people ages 7 through 17 are admitted free with reservations through Brown Paper Tickets (below). To purchase in person, visit the Gualala Arts Center or Dolphin Gallery in Gualala.
