KARTOOZ - New Jersey Premier - POSTPONED
[EVENT POSTPONED] Kartooz is an action packed movie about love, friendship, revenge, greed and music, but it is also the first Indian movie to have brought the mixed martial arts fighting genre to the Bengali audience. Yotokan Black Belt Mike Fishbein said that "Kartooz is the best Indian action movie that I've seen as it lifts Mixed Martial Arts into a ballet like dance form." The story of Kartooz is simple. Kabir, a small time gangster, is out looking for revenge against Habul Ghosh who has not only killed his girl friend, but is also trying to get him murdered while he is in jail to cheat him out of a simple monetary debt. Habul Ghosh's assassins fail to kill Kabir but succeed in filling Kabir Khan's heart with an obsession to avenge his girl friend's death and the attempt to kill him. He drives into Habul Ghosh's empire, a small town in the Himalyayas, with only one desire - Kill Habul and all his cronies. He is dressed in black and is carrying a guitar case that is filled with an AK-47, a 6 mm gun and a machete Meanwhile, a singer walks into the town, also dressed in black, carrying a guitar case looking for a job as a singer in one of the many bars that Habul Ghosh owns in this little town. Rocky, the singer, does not get any jobs until he meets Maria, a sassy girl who runs a bar owned by Habul Ghosh, She falls in love with Rocky but is imprisoned by the fact that she is also Habul Gosh's mistress. Habul Ghosh's henchmen mistakenly think that Rocky is Kabir, the man looking to murder Habul as they are both dressed in black and are carrying a guitar case. The mistaken identities result in a lot of chases and unnecessary gun fights ending in death for many. Will Rocky survive? Will he ever win over Maria's heart and free her from the clutches of Habul and his gang? Based on true characters who rocked North Bengal in the 1980s, this is an action packed romantic epic with great songs that have already become anthems in the Indian part of Bengal.
