When the Bough Breaks - Charleston premiere!
Charleston premiere of a new documentary from veteran Columbia filmmaker Bud Ferillo (director and producer of "Corridor of Shame").
"When the Bough Breaks" is a 45-minute film that examines literacy in South Carolina, proposes strategies to tackle reading earlier, and warns of the consequences of failure.
The film screening will be introduced by Bud Ferillo, director and producer. Remarks by Dr. Nancy J. McGinley, superintendent, CCSD; Kim Odom, manager, John L. Dart Branch Library, Charleston County Public Library; and Steve Skardon, executive director, Palmetto Project, will follow the screening.
"When the Bough Breaks" is a production of the SC Education Oversight Committee and a presentation of the Children's Law Center of USC.
Free, easy parking will be available adjacent to the venue. A map showing detailed location will be emailed to ticket purchasers.
Proceeds benefit BEGIN WITH BOOKS, Charleston County affiliate of Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. BEGIN WITH BOOKS is an all-volunteer early childhood literacy initiative that delivers books by mail to babies and toddlers.
