AKDuo House Concert Series
The AKDuo house concert series features a relaxing evening of beautiful music, assortment of wines, and tasty desserts.
The music will be a compilation of many styles -- from Bossa Nova, pop, slow intimate melodies to exciting show pieces.

This concert will only be able to hold 30 guests.
The first 30 people to RSVP will be able to attend this event.

Tomoya Aomori - Bass

Tomoya Aomori is an active soloist and chamber musician who performs concerts and recitals worldwide both as a Bassist and a Percussionist.
As a Bassist, he tours around the world with his Cellist wife Julia Kang, playing and organizing concerts and events under the name Aomori-Kang Duo (AKDuo.com). He is also a regular performer with the New York Chamber soloists, and he was the 1st place winner at the International Society of Bassists Young Bassist Competition in 2003. He is the Assistant Bass teacher at the Juilliard Pre-College, and an Adjunct Bass Professor at Queens College.
As a Percussionist, he is a frequent sub with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and has played concertos with the Juilliard Orchestra, Children's Orchestra Society, and the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra. He was featured at Alice Tully Hall's Opening night performing Osvaldo Golijov's "Mariel" with cellist Maya Beiser, and has appeared at Carnegie Hall with the Met Chamber Ensemble performing Pierre Boulez's "Sur Incises" under James Levine.
Tomoya Aomori is a graduate of The Juilliard School, where he completed both his Undergraduate and Graduate degrees as a double major on Percussion and Double Bass.
He is the founder of playthe5bass.com, a website promoting the advantages of playing a 5-string Bass tuned in 5ths tuning.

Julia Kang - Cello

Cellist Julia MinJeong Kang is a versatile musician with a growing career as a soloist and a chamber musician.
She has been featured as a soloist with several orchestras, including the "Arco" Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Seoul Pops Orchestra, and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Neeme Järvi. Mrs. Kang has also been heard in the Young Musician's Concert at Carnegie Hall, a radio show "From the Top", and has given many solo recitals across the United States.
Recognized in numerous competitions, she has won the first prize in the Associated Music Teacher's League of NY and ASTA state competition, as well as second prize and third prizes in New Jersey Symphony Young Artist Auditions. Other awards and honors include the Governor's Award in Arts Education, Merit Award from ARTS, Children's Foundation for the Arts Scholarship Award, the Samuel Mayes Memorial Cello Award, and Irene Diamond Graduate Fellowship Award.
As an active chamber musician, she won the 2007 Lillian Fuchs chamber competition. She has played with chamber groups such as Solisti Ensemble, Salome Chamber Orchestra, Paumonok Trio, and Camarata Virtuosi.  She has attended the Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival, Pacific Music Festival, the Tanglewood Music Center, and the Castleton Music Festival. She is currently a chamber music/cello faculty at Children's Orchestra Society and a newly appointed Applied Strings Adjunct faculty at Molloy College.
Mrs. Kang received her Bachelor's degree from Manhattan School of Music in 2007, and Master's degree from The Juilliard School in 2009. Her past teachers include Marion Feldman and Bonnie Hampton.
She is currently pursuing her DMA degree at Stony Brook University under the instruction of Colin Carr. She is a recipient of the Staller Scholar Award.  
Julia is married to bassist and percussionist Tomoya Aomori, and together they perform as the Aomori-Kang Duo (AKDuo.com).


Soyeon Park - Piano

Pianist, Soyeon Park has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States, Canada, Romania, Italy, Czech Republic, China and Korea.  She appeared on the stages of the La Villa D'este in Tivoli, Italy, Auditorium Camera Di Commercio and Cattedrale di Giarre in Sicily, Italy, Brevnov Monastery and Bertramka (the Mozart Museum) in Prague, Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest, The Bravo Club in Beijing, China, Sejong Arts Center in Seoul, Korea, Banff Center Concert Hall in Alberta, Canada, Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City, Steinway Hall, The Yamaha Salon, The Kosciuszko Foundation, and Weill hall at the Carnegie Hall in New York.
As a young artist, she won many awards from various competitions and auditions including ARTS (Arts Recognition and Talent Search) by the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts, The Prague International Piano Festival Competition, Heida Hermann International Competition, Wideman Piano Competition and the Corpus Christi International Competition.  Soyeon has participated in master classes with many renowned pianists, including Alexander Kobrin, Julian Martin, Robert McDonald, Ann Schein, Ian Hobson, Jerome Lowenthal, Tamás Vásáry, Ivan Moravec and Menahem Pressler.
A highly sought-after collaborative artist in New York City's demanding classical music scene, Soyeon has been frequently appearing at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall and Steinway Hall.  Her energetic and insightful interpretations of classical works have charmed and inspired audience young and old.  Sponsored by the Si-Yo Music Society Foundation, Inc., Soyeon appeared on the stage at Museo del Violino in Cremona, Italy this past season.  Other professional engagements of the past season include a recital and master class with Leon Fleisher in Prague, Czech Republic and an artist residency at the Banff Centre, Canada giving numerous concerts and premieres of works by contemporary composers.  In the same season, she became the winner of the Simon Belsky Piano Competition and the Mieczyslaw Munz Chopin Competition.
A passionate advocate and educator of music, Soyeon served as an associate faculty member at the Center for Musical Excellence, and taught master classes at International Piano Academy in Beijing and the New York Piano Festival.  Recently, she adjudicated the annual concerto competitions at preparatory division of Manhattan School of Music.  
Soyeon received her Bachelor and Master Degrees from Manhattan School of Music and is a Teaching Fellow in the Doctoral program.  She is a recipient of the Svend Svendsen and Margarethe Svendsen Scholarship and the President's Award.  A renowned pianist and pedagogue, Mr. Zenon Fishbein guided Soyeon for fifteen years and continues to influence her after his passing.
Soyeon has been serving as a music director at Leonia United Methodist Church since 2004 and recently, appointed as the director of admissions of the Center for Muscial Excellence.
