MIND at LARGE and Super Best Records Present: ARTIFAKTS, MTBTZ, Willdabeast, & HYDEF
"Each person is at each moment capable of remembering all that has ever happened to him and of perceiving everything that is happening everywhere in the universe. The function of the brain and nervous system is to protect us from being overwhelmed and confused by this mass of largely useless and irrelevant knowledge, by shutting out most of what we should otherwise perceive or remember at any moment, and leaving only that very small and special selection which is likely to be practically useful. According to such a theory, each one of us is potentially MIND at LARGE."
An evening of excitement, dance, and infinite creativity await you.
MTBTZ "Fractal Reactor" stage design returns to MIND at LARGE but this time we're bringing some midwest funk to mix.
Line Up: ARTIFAKTS MTBTZ - Meaty Beats Willdabeast HYDEF
ARTIFAKTS Bio: What happens when gritty electronic basslines meet vintage sample laced hip hop? You get the boom bap sample sound of indie producer Artifakts. Artifakts is the ever-evolving, electronic hip-hop project of Garret Meyer. Ranging from gritty down-sampled soulful stomp to mellow, airy and ambient hip hop, Artifakts has carved out a unique sound that not even trip hop can touch.
Hailing out of small town Newton, Wisconsin, 20 year old Garret began the collaborative project "Artifakts" in February 2012, and was joined by fellow 20 year old electronic producer William Thompson (Charleston, South Carolina) in March 2012. Following a summer festival circuit and live debut, Artifakts released the 11 track "Like This If" beat tape independently, featuring a smorgasbord of vinyl sampled, short electronic infused hip hop and airy trip-hop instrumentals à la Flying Lotus, Michal Menert, and DJ Shadow. Artifakts is set to release an EP in 2013 with sole works from Meyer.
Artifakts has also shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the scene such as Pretty Lights, MartyParty (of PANTyRAiD), and Cherub; not to mention plenty of collaborations with producers around the US. With multiple tracks under his belt, Artifakts set himself apart as one of the most sought after new electronic producers around.
