Sadhana, A Journey
Theatre Style Yoga Productions announces their first season presenting the original "devised theatre" production of SĀDHANĀ: A JOURNEY, an experimental project where Theater, Yoga, Dance, Sound Healing & the Chakras converge seeking their artistic potential. The show will run for three consecutive days, May 16th-18th (Fri. 8pm, Sat. 8pm, & Sun. 3pm), at the historical Vail-Leavitt Music Hall in Riverhead, NY. Each performance will include live music, drum circles, live painting on stage, improv cameos, audience participation, free admission to a "Chakra inspired" photography exhibit and access to a wine & beer bar.
Theatre Style Yoga Production's SĀDHANĀ: A JOURNEY stems from a certifiably organic process called "devised theatre", meaning there is no script for the show at all! From now until opening night, the cast and production team will use this organic approach to tap into the depths of their craft, push beyond their current edge, and create a story from only a small seed of thought. Producing Artistic Director (Loren Camberato) wanted to bring the "yoga culture" to the theatre and approached both the Director (Camile Arnone) and Production Manager (Lisa Mongiello) with the idea of telling a story of The Soul (Dorothy Rojas) and her experience with the Chakras (seven main energy systems that run along the human spine, each embodying different themes: emotions, elements, colors, character traits, vital organs, and more). What's even more interesting the Producer decided to bring the seven Chakras to life and have each be played by seven different actors. Using yoga movement, abstract dance, & more: The Soul will connect with each Chakra in ways that reflect their central theme, and the audience will partake in something that has never been done before.
