Open House! Gem Center For The Arts
The community is invited to join us for our open house. Take this opportunity to tour this new community space, meet artists and find out how you can get involved! This event is kid friendly and everyone is welcome.
The celebration is going to be an exciting evening of live music, four stories of art exhibits and delightful art activities for young and old. The event happenings are taking place, both indoors and outside of the Gem Building, designed so you can bring the whole family. Pipe Dreams a Celebration and Community Open House will include a first peak building walk through of the initial renovations to transform the interior of the Gem Building.
Come enjoy live music from local songwriter band Credenda, kids play area and view the works of many wonderful artists from across the Treasure Valley area. Food truck will be onsite: Burrito Peddlers.
The Gem Center for the Arts is a new cultural organization in the Vista neighborhood. Located one block east of the historic Vista Washer Woman sign, and slightly north of the corner of Vista and Overland Road, the Gem Building is under new ownership by Jane Tharpe a local artist and designer. This 1970s Federal style building is being re-purposed as an arts hub for the bench area of Boise. The intent, for Jane in securing this 24,000 commercial building, is to provide low cost individual artist studio space, shared artist studios, workshop space for a wide range of arts education programming and a variety of performing arts spaces.
The Gem Arts Center for the Arts is playing a future role in the City of Boise Cultural Master Plan and helping to grow Boises cultural future. One of the Vista neighborhoods goals is to have creative place making in their community and The Gem Center for the Arts is doing that.
