The Waterman's Daughter
Doors at 7:30pm, Showtime 8pm - cash bar

The Waterman's Daughter  focuses in on the life of an unconventional and original woman named Lilyan Stratton Corbin. She was an author, actress, and philanthropist who grew up in the remote town of Crisfield, MD, during the Chesapeake Bay Oyster boom in the late 1800s. She ran away from home in 1898 at age 16 and went from the stage, to the screen, to the page, and later became the namesake for the Crisfield library. She was a self-made success and most known for her stage role in The Virginian (which toured the US several times). She is also known for her marriage to the silent film star Frank Campeau, their famous divorce, and her books Reno, Homing, The Wifes Lessons, and The Feminine Philosophy. Lilyan's unique character will be brought to life through the lens of her musical storytelling sister Rose,  featuring seven original new songs. Rose stayed in their hometown of Crisfield and exchanged letters with her sister. The story is told through songs, photos, journalist interviews, book launch re-enactments, dramatic narrative, and letters between Lilyan and Rose.

ABOUT THE ARTIST, KATRINA KADASKY
After spending three years care-taking a legendary historic heritage site, (Cougar Annie's off-the-grid homestead and garden in the Clayoquot Sound in Tofino, BC.) Katrina created Cougar Annie Tales, a 65-minute play channeling Ada Annie Lawson and the fascinating characters in her life. Katrinas creative talent, sensitivity to place, ability to channel characters and her passion for history make her a wonderful choice for curating this piece on the Lower Shore. Katrina is also a touring recording artist, singer, songwriter and guitarist.

"A confident performer who has created a well-polished cultural addition to Vancouver Island's heritage." - Times Colonist, Victoria, BC
