After Everything presents: A Basil Tale
Unity Church of San Francisco
San Francisco, CA
Share this event:

After Everything, has long been fascinated by the serendipitous interplay between music and text. This concert presents classic works by Maurice Ravel and Magnus Lindberg, as well as new pieces by Matthew Cmiel and Preben Antonsen, each selection unique in character, yet sharing a very particular common thread: the possibilities which arise when these two realms of artistic expression align to create something beautiful.

Join After Everything on Sunday, May 21, 8 pm, at the Unity Church of San Francisco for another thought-provoking, sonorous, celebration of new music and art.

The program for the evening:

"3 Poems de Stéphane Mallarmé", a composition for soprano voice by Maurice Ravel set to specific work of the French symbolist poet

"The Clarinet Trio", by Finnish composer and pianist, Magnus Lindberg, where text serves as a descriptor of the sounds within the music

"The Three Oddest Words", from Matthew Cmiel, based very directly on a text by Polish poet, Wislawa Szymborska,

"A Basil Tale", Preben Antonsens new pocket opera three movements that tell a distinct story, using texts not originally paired to create the story.
