Egyhop Benefit for the Homeless
Benefit for Egyhop, an all volunteer group meeting the needs of Homeless Olympians 365 nights a year. Traveling on bikes with trailers loaded with vitamins, aspirin, blankets, and clothing items like coats, gloves, dry socks, or sleeping bags, if they have them, or preventative medical items. More importantly they are there, at night, when everyone else has gone home. These folks have no homes for various reasons, most through no fault of there own. They are distrustful of social service agencies but are in dire situations and need help. Situations can range from severe domestic abuse of them and/or their children, to loss of income paired with disability. This event is to recognize the homeless situation in Olympia and also to support an organization who gives a damn.
The new businesses at the 222 Market, located on the corner of
Capitol Way N and Washington St, care about this cause and want to support Egyhop in their mission. They are opening their businesses on May 31st from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM to have a Special Benefit for Egyhop! All businesses are donating their time and goods for the cause. All proceeds go to Egyhop.
This fund raising event will feature:
- Jazz Greats Pearl Django, pronounced Pearl Jango, who recently appeared at New Traditions Café.
- Sammy Miller a hilariously funny homegrown comedian who's gaining popularity in the Pacific Northwest will keep us laughing all night long! He shares a special with this event because he once was homeless himself.
- The event ticket will entitle the holder to two drinks & foods prepared especially for the Egyhop Benefit by Chelsea Farms Oyster Bar, The Bread Peddler, Creperie, Sofie's Scoops, Broth Bar, Blind Pig Spirits, and local organic products from The Pantry & Cooking School.
- A live and silent auction will take place featuring exclusive items from Olympia Businesses.
