Heidi Muller & Bob Webb at the Harrington Opera House
Heidi Muller and multi-instrumentalist Bob Webb weave Heidis award-winning original songs featuring crystalline vocals, guitar and dulcimer with new takes on Appalachian traditional music. Concert, including songs from their new CD Up Hurricane Creek will be 7 PM on April 29, 2017 at the historic Harrington Opera House, S 19 Third St., Harrington, WA 99169.
Described by Dulcimer Players News as one of the dulcimer communitys best songwriters and performers, Muller made her name as a Seattle recording artist in the 80s and 90s. Her song Good Road is still heard weekly on Northwest Public Radio and KPBX-Spokane after 25 years as the theme song of the Inland Folk show. In addition to performing as a songwriter/guitarist, she taught dulcimer workshops across the Northwest. She toured  nationally and recorded five solo CDs before she joined forces with Bob Webb.
Webb, a talented multi-instrumentalist, toured with the folk-rock group Stark Raven that became the house band for the Mountain Stage radio show, broadcast from WV. He backed up many of the greats including Odetta, Arlo Guthrie, Tom Paxton and Shawn Colvin.
Muller and Webb started performing and touring together in 2003, based in Charleston, West Virginia. Muller collected the local history of Big Ugly Creek, WV and wrote songs with children and adults in a project funded by the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, which culminated in a 200-page book, Patchwork Dreams. Muller and Webb taught in the rural coalfields through Clay Community Arts and co-founded the Music Mentors program for at-risk, inner-city children in Charleston. They have taught at many festivals and events including Road Scholar programs, Augusta Spring Dulcimer Week, and Wallowa Fiddle Tunes Camp.
They now live in northeast Oregon, where they continue to make their living performing, touring, teaching and recording. They also host their own summer music camp, Dulcimer Week in the Wallowas.
Proceeds from this concert benefits the rehabilitation and operating expenses of the historic 1904 Harrington Opera House. The Harrington Opera House Society was established 25 years ago to rescue the mostly abandoned building, with the goal to create a regional venue for community events, arts & culture in a unique historical setting.
