Bemidji Symphony Orchestra presents Celtic Legends!
The Bemidji Symphony Orchestra presents Celtic Legends on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 3:00PM at the Bemidji High School Auditorium. Doors open for seating at 2:30PM. All seats general admission.

Guest flutist Lisa Bost-Sandberg is welcomed to the BSO stage to perform the Flute Concerto by contemporary composer Christopher Rouse. Dr. Beverly Everett conducts. The remainder of the program takes a cue from the Celtic themes of the Rouse Concerto and will feature spirited Irish music, such as Percy Graingers Molly on the Shore and John Philip Sousas Circus Galop from The Irish Dragoon. Also on the program is a beautiful tone-poem called the Pleasure Dome of Kubla Kahn by Charles Griffes, based on the poem The Ballad of Kubla Khan by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. The concert is being sponsored by First National Bank of Bemidji.

Dr. Lisa Bost-Sandberg is a flutist, composer, and improviser deeply committed to contemporary music and its rich roots in the classical repertoire. In demand as a soloist and chamber musician, she has performed across the US and Europe, including appearances at National Flute Association conventions and new music festivals. She frequently has the honor of premiering pieces and actively commissions new works with a particular interest in music for alto flute. A Montana native, Lisa received her doctorate in flute performance from the University of North Texas as a recipient of the prestigious Masters and Doctoral Fellowship. She currently serves as chair of the National Flute Association New Music Advisory Committee.

This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Region 2 Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. This activity is also made possible by a grant through the Northwest Minnesota Foundation.
