April 1st - David Rovics in a Benefit Concert to #DefendDemocracy and for El Dorado Progressives
SOLD OUT!
"David Rovics is the musical version of DemocracyNow!" - Amy Goodman
"If Phil Ochs were to rise from the dead today, he'd probably be hailed as the new David Rovics." - BBC
"Listen to David Rovics!" - Pete Seeger
David Rovics is a singer/songwriter from the Pacific Northwest whose rousing songs and music have been compared to Woody Gutherie, Phil Ochs and Pete Seeger. At times intense and often tender, his music captures the tenor of our times, with all its viciousness against immigrants and people of color, massive protests in the streets, the #Resistance and love that are trying to stem the tide of a madman President. David's music is a weapon and a cry for justice. From songs about our nation's untold history ("St Patrick's Battalion" tells the story of Irish soldiers during the Mexican American war who deserted to fight on the Mexican side), to songs ripped out of today's headlines, ("Statue in the Harbor" that sings an ode to all the principles that the Statue of Liberty has represented in our nation's history), David's songs are fiercely partisan on behalf of the suffering, the downtrodden, and those fighting back to make a better world.
This April 1st "NoJoke" concert at the Cozmic Cafe in Placerville is a #DefendDemocracy benefit concert for the El Dorado Progressives, a newly formed group of over 1700 citizens from El Dorado County in California that have come together to resist and fight the far Right's attempt to role back 100 years of our nation's progress.
