Aoide Chamber Singers, Red Lodge
Music from the Beartooths - a concert series in Red Lodge Montana presents Aoide Chamber Singers in St. Agnes Church
This extraordinary young a cappella choral group from Montana State University in Bozeman has been received with enthusiasm and glowing praise wherever they have appeared. Their high level of artistry and commitment to modern music invite comparison with other, long-established groups such as Chanticleer and the St. Olaf Choir. Their performances routinely range from hauntingly passionate works of the Renaissance and Medieval chant through contemporary choral masterpieces.
Aoide's 2016-17 season features a diverse concert series with appearances in St. Agnes Church of Red Lodge, Holy Rosary of Bozeman, and the Cathedral of St. Helena in the capital. Early this fall, Aoide will be recording an album with Jereco Studios in Bozeman for release in the spring which will feature a work of composer Colin Britt, commissioned by the choir, which will be given its world premiere at their Candlelight Christmas performances.
The program for Red Lodge will consist of seasonal works to greet the holidays and the winter solstice - old and new, sacred and traditional. Among the familiar works are settings of "Now Sleeps the Crimson Petal," "Carol of the Bells," "Silent Night," "Riu, Riu, Chiu," and "There Is No Rose."
One of the outstanding musical events of the year, in the magnificent acoustics of St. Agnes Church of Red Lodge.
