Give A Joyful Noise...Raisin' the Praise featuring Gospel Sensation -The Chosen Aggregation Choir with special guest-composer/ percussionist Joe Chambers
A concert featuring gospel sensation "The Chosen Aggregation Choir" with special guest legendary composer and percussionist Joe Chambers at the First Congregational Church on Saturday, November 5, 2016 from 7-11 p.m. Contemporary Gospel and Jazz standards will be performed individually and jointly, which will be a creative and musically exciting experience.
The Chosen Aggregation was established in 1993 in Atlanta, Georgia. Under Joseph F. Robinson Jr's direction, The Choir has toured the United States and Europe. They have appeared at the Stockholm Gospelkor Festival in Sweden, The Gospel Music Workshop of America, The Thomas Dorsey National Convention, and many local and surrounding churches throughout Atlanta and the country. They recorded their first Live Concert DVD* Raise The Praise 2 and their third CD recording, Eyes Have Not Seen. Eyes Have Not Seen, was recorded live in Atlanta, Georgia featuring some of Atlanta's Best Gospel Music icons: Evangelist Margaret Maddox Davie, Kenneth The Maestro Lowe, and Pastor Wendy Smith.
Joe Chambers, composer and percussionist, has worked with some of the most influential jazz figures of the last several decades and is a recognized performer and composer whose works have been performed at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. As a sideman and leader, Chambers has recorded more than 500 albums and CDs. He has performed and recorded with Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard, Wayne Shorter, McCoy Tyner, Chick Corea, Sonny Rollins, Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie, Andrew Hill and many more. Chambers compositions have been covered by Hutcherson, Hubbard and MBoom; he has also contributed to soundtracks for several Spike Lee films to include Mo Better Blues. Chambers was the first Thomas S. Kenan Distinguished Professor of Jazz in Department of Music at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. He has conducted master classes at Emory University, New School, CCNY and many other institutions of higher learning. His recording "Joe Chambers Moving Pictures Orchestra Live" of Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola in New York City, Savant 2012, released May 2012 was nominated for a Grammy in the Big Band category. His most recent recording (2016) "Joe Chambers Landscapes" is climbing the international jazz charts. He most recently performed in Italy, fronting a full orchestra.
