Keith Little and the LittleBand with special guests Blaine Sprouse and Sharon Gilchrist
Keith Little and the LittleBand with special guests Blaine Sprouse and Sharon Gilchrist. A fundraiser for SaveOurHalls being held at the Banner Hall in Grass Valley, California. World Class Bluegrass Music. Opening for Keith Little, Charly Price and David Zink.

Keith Little & the LittleBand with special guests Blaine Sprouse and Sharon Gilchrist will headline a benefit performance at the Banner Hall in Grass Valley on August 27th with Charly Price & David Zink opening. The proceeds benefit the Save Our Halls legal defense fund sponsored by the Cool Community Association.

Introduced to string band music by his banjo playing father, foothill native singer, and guitarist-composer Keith Little emerged from the hills some forty years ago to participate in what has since proved to be a milestone in west coast country music, performing and recording with Rose Maddox and the Vern Williams Band.  A respected veteran of many national touring bands including the Country Gentlemen, Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, and Lonesome Standard Time, Little is currently a featured member of the David Grisman Bluegrass Experience, and the Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band. The "bluegrass voice of the gold country, Little performed on the GRAMMY award winning The Grass Is Blue and Little Sparrow by Dolly Parton. His compositions have been recorded by Crystal Gayle, Claire Lynch, and the Whites (among others), and he is an honorary lifetime member of the California Bluegrass Association. Little, along with fellow LittleBand members Josh Tharp (banjo-vocals), and Rick Dugan (string bass - vocals), proudly bring their unique style of acoustic string music, rooted in bluegrass, gospel, and the blues, to Banner Hall. www.keithlittle.com

Also inspired by his banjo playing father, legendary bluegrass fiddler Blaine Sprouse began playing professionally at age eleven, and today is widely recognized as the genre's premier fiddle player. A protege of the great Kenny Baker, Sprouse has carried his inspiration and passion forward to perform with record with Jimmy Martin, Jim & Jesse, and the Osborne Brothers, and was a founding member of "The Bluegrass Band" with Butch Robbins and Alan O'Bryant.  He performs with band-mate Little in the Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band, and is a frequent guest with the LittleBand. "Blaine is my absolute favorite", comments Little.  Sprouse has three solo recordings to his credit along with a twin fiddle album featuring his mentor Kenny Baker. www.blainesprousemusic.com

The graceful and fiery Sharon Gilchrist (mandolin-vocals) emerged from her Texas family bluegrass band to make a home in the American acoustic music scene.  Delivering her music with a spaciously nuanced style, she's performed and recorded with Darol Anger, Peter Rowan, Tony Rice, Laurie Lewis, Scott Nygaard, and a host of others.  A respected teacher and coach, Gilchrist is a favorite mainstay instructor at many top workshops around the country and maintains a robust teaching schedule at home.  "Sharon's style and musicianship is unsurpassed" notes Little, and "we are delighted to have her on the Banner Hall show with us".  www.sharongilchristmusic.com

Singer/songwritters, Charly Price, of Nevada City and David Zink will be opening the show. The songs that Price brings to life are poignant, thought-provoking, and often irreverent.  David Zink has been described as ...a songwriter with a keen sense for making songs work...slightly off-kilter, original, eccentric and wildly appealing... experimental... (independent Songwriter Web Magazine).
