Songs Our Mother Loved
Named the "Matriarch of Minnesota Jazz", Jeanne Arland Peterson was a commander of the Minnesota jazz scene for well over 50 years. Join the Peterson family for a beautiful evening of songs and stories about this Minnesota music icon.
All five of Jeannes kids went on to careers as musicians, most notably in bands with acclaimed artists such as Steve Miller, Donny Osmond, the Time, David Sanborn or Stevie Nicks.
Jeanne Arland Peterson was recognized in 1998 as an Arts Midwest Jazz Masters recipientas well as named to the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame (the second woman given this award behind Judy Garland). She was also inducted into the Museum Of Broadcasting Hall Of Fame.
In the 1950s, she was asked to be the vocalist for the internationally famous Paul Whiteman Orchestra at Met Stadium, Linda said. Fast forward to 2002, when she was asked by Marian McPartland to be on her Public Radio International Piano Jazz program, and you have the second most thrilling gig of Moms career. - Jen Sandbo
