Jumpstart Your Audiobook Career!
Always wanted to be the voice telling your favorite stories, but never knew where to begin? This workshop, led by Audible narrator Susannah Jones, will give you everything you need to get started as an audiobook narrator. Well go over how to set up a profile on the Audiobook Creation Exchange, how to audition effectively, and how to reach out to big audiobook producers like Audible, Inc once youve built your resume. Youll also get time behind the mic at Rex Post, a high-end brick and mortar studio in downtown Portland, with a sound engineer whose work includes projects for clients in New York, the Pacific Northwest, and around the globe. Susannah will coach you one-on-one, giving you the tools to engage the reader and inspire producers to cast you for their next book. Bring a passage from a book of your choice, and walk away with an edited and mastered 3-5 minute sample, ready for upload to ACX or submission to one of the leading audiobook companies.
Class is $100; edited and mastered submission-ready sound sample is $20. And if you book before August 1, get the class-and-sample package for $100 or just the class for $80.
Susannah Jones is a New York-based actress, singer, and audiobook narrator. She has performed over 70 audiobooks in the last three years, including Rock Chick by Kristen Ashley, which was named one of the top five romance listens of 2014 on Audible.com. Susannah is the recipient of an Audiofile Earphones Award and a featured narrator friend on Audiogals.com. She was last seen in Portland as Miranda in The Tempest with Portland Shakespeare Project, and will soon be appearing in The Honey of His Music Vows, a workshop at CoHo, at the end of August. She has played Mother in the national tour of A Christmas Story: The Musical since 2014. In New York, she most recently played Cassidy Sullivan in the workshop of the new musical Crude (New York Musical Festival) and Emma Jung in Sabina (The Cell). Susannah is a series regular on the webseries Plant, for which she won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at the LA Webfest in 2014.
