DESCRIPTION:
Building Information Modeling (BIM) is an intelligent 3D model-based process that equips architecture, engineering, and construction professionals with the insight and tools to more efficiently plan, design, construct, and manage buildings and infrastructure. This course will present information on how to integrate BIM and the specifications.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Participates will obtain an overview of the available programs on the market to integrate specifications and building models, so they will be able to further explore the possibilities for their own practice and how various out of the box programs can be modified to reflect office practices and create office masters.
Participants will have a framework to evaluate the claims made for BIM/Spec integrations in terms of productivity, interoperability, and coordination.
Participants will consider the changes in workflow that may be required in transitioning to a BIM platform for specifications.
Participants will be able to define Level of Development and its implication for the specification writing process.
