Nich Mueller
Originally from Kalamazoo, Nich Mueller, is a jazz singer-songwriter back in the midwest on a CD release tour. Nich has been developing original music and a devoted following since his Downbeat Award winning debut album All In A Day in 2011. Nichs smooth vocal tone has been said to resemble Chet Baker, yet his pianistic abilities put him in the same category as piano/vocal bandleaders including Harry Connick Jr. and Diana Krall. Nich and his band perform re-invented versions of classic jazz standards and progressive originals featuring adventurous lyrical content paired with unique harmonic and rhythmic play.
Culture in Flames is Nichs latest release. It is the personalized musical statement of Nich and his band on the various thrills and issues we face living in the 21st century. Themes include digital age confusion, the experience of living in corporate controlled America, travel and self-discovery, the evolution of religion and spirituality, and personal trifles resulting from an increasingly distracting culture. Featuring a virtuosic band to back this exciting new piano/vocal bandleader on the New York scene; sounds bounce back and forth from straight-ahead cutting jazz to odd-meters, original harmonies, and spots of touching ballad.
