Bemidji Symphony Orchestra presents Summer Pops concert Legendary Voices.
The Bemidji Symphony Orchestra (BSO) presents their Summer Pops concert Legendary Voices on Saturday evening, July 9, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Bemidji High School Auditorium. Dr. Beverly Everett conducts.
Guest vocalist Emily Walter joins the BSO for a high-spirited evening of folk, pops and patriotic tunes, such as Snowbird, Leavin' on Your Mind, Blowin in the Wind, Stand By Me, Sing, Armed Forces Salute, and more.
Sergeant Emily Walter, a Gulf War veteran, was lead vocalist with the U.S. Air Force SAC Band, singing in genres such as big band and jazz. She has worked with such stars as Bob Hope, Lee Greenwood and John Denver, and was influenced by vocal greats Karen Carpenter, Anne Murray and Patsy Cline. Emily has performed everywhere from the Medora Musical in North Dakota to national and international venues. The BSO will also be joined by the annual Mystery Maestro who will conduct Stars and Stripes Forever.
Tickets are $10.00 for both adults and senior citizens. K-12 students are admitted free. Tickets are available at the door or in advance at Luekens Village Foods North and South and online at brownpapertickets.com. Doors open for seating at 6:30 pm. This concert is funded with a grant from the George W. Nielsen Foundation.
A free ticket to Legendary Voices is included with the purchase of a $60 BSO Season Ticket, which provides admission to all six subscription concerts in 2016-2017. Season Tickets will be available for purchase at the door the evening of the concert, or can be purchased through the BSO website, www.bemidjisymphony.org. Call 218/444-7914 for more information.
