This day is to promote community, health & fitness.
We hope people of all ages will participate.
On August 27 the Northwest Indiana Exiles Rugby Football Club is hosting a 5k benefit run & fitness walk. The 5k will be officially timed and awards given to top runners. Post 5k activities will include a Rugby Clinic where participants will learn the game of rugby and apply newly learned skills in friendly matches of touch rugby.
We will be hosting this event to benefit Center For Possibilities, a local non-profit helping those with Cerebral Palsy, here is a little information about them:
The Center for Possibilities is to improve the quality of life for children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families. Center for Possibilities believes that a persons worth is not diminished by a disability and that people with disabilities are entitled to full life experiences. Their goals are to:
>Increase access to quality programs by removing financial and enrollment barriers
>Increase level of independence/highest level of functioning of our students
>Decrease feelings of loneliness and isolation for students and their families
>Increase awareness of programs/services for people with disabilities and their families
>Increase community awareness of the needs and abilities of people with physical and cognitive disabilities
>Decrease stress on families/caregivers providing long-term care of children/adults with developmental disabilities
The events will be held at the Hobart Rugby Field, 110 E. Old Ridge Road, Hobart, IN.
Parking is available on either side of the the pitch.
