What happens when children diagnosed with autism, a developmental condition, grow up, and want to lead lives of their own, including the experience of romance? Autism compromises core relationship skills: communication and social interaction. Adults with autism are disadvantaged in the actualization of romantic love, but can have a powerful desire to experience it. The lives of four autistic adults are explored with honesty and compassion as they pursue and manage romantic relationships. These beautiful cinematic portraits defy stereotypes and deepen our understanding of this most central aspect of the human condition: the desire to love and be loved.
