Atlas Lab Album Release Show w/ Special Guests Só Sol
"Balancing somewhere between the brightest pop moments of Broadcast, the vintage sounds of Allah Las and the undiscovered era of the northern soul." - Sound Injections (Greece)
"A groovy, engrossing project with enough funk to keep you on your toes." - Sound of Boston
It began with a chance encounter between two buskers on a Cambridge street corner, a few vocal loops meeting an acoustic guitar, a month-long blizzard that locked new friends inside an apartment. A year later, after a summer of local and regional shows and road trips, Somerville-based five-piece Atlas Lab is releasing the EP that was born in the blizzard. Weaving elements of soul and folk together with dreamy grooves and vocalist Solei's live vocal loops, the band creates psychedelic beds of sound that you can lie on or dance on as you please. Lights and images will accompany the music on stage.
with special guests Só Sol
"Só Sol is elegant. Whether or not you understand Portuguese, [DaSilva's] voice is an alluring instrument in itself; flirtatious and poetic in melody alone, and perfectly complimented by gentle strumming and fingerpicking." - DigBoston
Born of the magnetic harmonies and multilingual songwriting of husband and wife duo John Garrett and Jessica DaSilva, Só Sol's robust style of Latin Americana is filled out by J Bruce Scott's lap steel guitar and Dylan Coleman's upright bass. Their influences range from old country/Americana to folk to Tropicalia to jazz and rock & roll.
