Old Blind Dogs
After being dog gone in quarantine for far too long. Scotland's pick-of-the-litter for traditional bands, Old Blind Dogs, has finally been unleashed and return barking mad to one of their favorite kennels, Don Quixote's.

One of the most highly touted Celtic groups of our time, OBD is the only multiple winner of the prestigious Scots Trad Music Award as 'Folk Band of the Year' and released 11 acclaimed CDs.

OBD continues to distinguish themselves as vital, innovative ambassadors of Scots music by subtly and ingeniously expanding upon the very tradition they celebrate in harnessing the rich resonance and timeless themes of the songs and tunes of their homeland and weld them to new rhythmic frameworks, dynamic arcs and textural expanses, This produces a uniquely identifiable sound that reflects the rich heritage of their forefathers, yet comes across as resoundingly fresh and immediate.

OBD's incandescent instrumental arsenal of pipes, fiddle, whistles, bouzouki, guitar and percussion and their vibrant, virile vocals have left concertgoers raving for more and led to rave reviews, such as from The Scotsman, 'Old Blind Dogs play with a compelling energy and intoxicating rhythm as players and audience seem to share a wild ecstasy of emotion.'

STOP PRESS: Update just in from Old Blind Dogs' U.S. agent.

CHANGE IN BAND MEMBER

Most of you know of our ongoing fight with immigration for Jonny Hardie....and this last summer we put his application, and the bands, in way ahead. It was approved by the California CIS, and after some struggle the UK Belfast Consulate also approved Jonny, and in October issued him his passport with the approved stamp for P-3 Visa. But in late December we were notified that the main office in Washington had revoked the approval. Belfast Consulate cant even give us specific reasons, and can only say to reapply, which takes six months by the waiver program. Jonny has a long road ahead, and until this back and forth problem with US Immigration is solved the future looks bleak for Jonny to be on tour in the US.

However, all three other members have their Visas in hand and are approved, and the band has always had a backup plan if there was any problem in this.

The replacement player is a fine fiddle and vocalist from the United States, JENNA MOYNIHAN. Here is her Bio;

Jenna is from Lakewood New York and is a recent graduate of Berklee College of Music. While studying, she was selected to receive the Fletcher Bright Award & the American Roots Music-two awards given annually to one outstanding string player. She performs as a duo with Scottish harpist, Mairi Chaimbeul, with Laura Cortese & The Dance Cards, Darol Anger & The Furies, and has performed and collaborated with Hamish Napier, Bruce Molsky, Matt Glaser, Kimberly Fraser, Phil Cunningham, and as a soloist at Symphony Hall with the Boston Pops.

She will be doing vocals from her new CD and doing backup vocals and fiddles for the tour. Aaron Jones from the band does have a download photo you can use if needed, just email him at aaron@tradmusic.com for that and any other questions about Jenna.

As to publicity, my suggestion is to go with the poster and photos that the band already has, as we will not have anything with Jenna ion it, and use in advertising and night of the show this info on the fill in member. I will also say that Old Blind Dogs has had many lineups through the years, but that the music and live performance always stands up to being one of the better shows going. The band has no fears that they will disappoint, and long time members Ali Hutton and Aaron Jones with new percussion player Donald Hay and Jenna Moynihan will deliver the Dogs show that we all expect to see.
