Kris Bowers Community Jazz Concert
Kris Bowers has agreed to perform a Community Jazz Concert in appreciation and recognition, and especially as his way of giving back to this community that supported and encouraged his achievement and success.  Kris Bowers grew up in and was always supported in his early dreams and aspirations within the Los Angeles community. The organizations supported are the Roy W. Roberts II Watts/Willowbrook Boys and Girls Club and The Church of Christian Fellowship. These organizations combine for more than 128 years of service to the community.

Kris Bowers was born in Los Angeles on April 5, 1989 to a film writer and a television executive. He received private classical music lessons from around the age of nine. He initially listened to "classic soul records and hip-hop before falling under the spell of jazz, classical music, and film scores."
Kris studied jazz and classical piano at Los Angeles County High School for the Arts.  His training coaches include Mulgrew Miller and Donald Vega.  Kris also studied jazz at Colburn School for Performing Arts and graduated in 2006. He then attended Juilliard, where he obtained a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Jazz Performance.  He performed frequently on gigs while he was a student in New York.

The Watts/Willowbrook Boys & Girls Club (WWBGC), was founded in 1957 as a gift to the community from the Los Angeles Times Charities, Inc.  Originally incorporated as Southern Area Boys Club, this organization was the first to serve the south Los Angeles area. The clubhouse is now named in memory of its long- time executive director of twenty-seven years, Roy W Roberts, II who passed away in 2002.  The purpose of this Boys & Girls Club is to provide essential educational programs, activities, experiences, and support services to youth members to assure that success is within reach of each young person who walks through the doors.

Congregational Church of Christian Fellowship (CCCF) has been serving the Los Angeles /Urban Community 70 years and will be expanding its community outreach and service programs well into the future.

Join us for a magical evening of amazing music and celebration.
