A tribute to one of Mexico's most beloved singers... Juan Gabriel.
"Juan Time Only" consists of members that have actually been a part of Juan Gabriel's tour band & the singer, George Magallanes, is a local favorite cantador and amigo de Eastside Luv, who can do a great Juan Gabriel impersonation. We met George Magallanes, who is born & raised & now raising his family in Boyle Heights, at Eastside Luv. He stood out at Mariachi Karaoke nights, called MariachiOke, when signing up to sing with Trio Ellas. He would always select a Juan Gabriel song to sing and left todos all blown away by his singing talents and likeness to Juan Gabriel. We would always jokingly say to him "You missed your calling hombre!" because he only sang for the joy of it & not professionally. This is his time to shine singing his favorite Juanga songs with a pro backup band, who again, actually tour/ed with the real deal.
Mariachi Manchester (10:00 pm sharp)
A tribute to one of England's most beloved singers... Morrissey.
They represent the nexus of Moz Angeles and the ever-adapting mariachi tradition in Los Angeles. Mariachi Manchester croons like the Mozzer in union with Juan Gabriel or Pedro Infante. They are at times playful in their reinterpretation of The Smiths/Morrissey and mariachi, but grounded in a serious foundation of both branches. Their mash-ups of Smiths/Morrissey songs with mariachi sones and rancheras display how relatable the emotion, themes, and sounds of these musics truly are. ¡Ajúassey!
