American composer Ricky Ian Gordon's "Orpheus and Euridice" is a modern re-telling of the classic Orpheus and Eurydice myth. Written during the ongoing, and worsening, illness of Gordon's partner, the work transcends as a powerful statement on love, loss, and the beauty inherent in art. rickyiangordon.com.
Hailed as interpreting with "profundity and power" (RuideroXXI, Mexico City), sTem is comprised of clarinetist Eric Christian Umble, soprano Meagan Amelia Brus, and pianist Sophia Subbayya Vastek. Formed in 2013 at Manhattan School of Music, they have performed numerous concerts throughout the United States and abroad, and their debut album is scheduled for release in early 2016.
