Z -- PROGRAM 6: Bronx World Film Cycle, Winter 2015
END MIDDLE BEGINNING (SCR/DIR Elizabeth von Kaenel, USA, 2015, TRT 2'27") CAT: Experimental

A short video that utilizes abstract images and movement to represent lines of Anne Sexton's poem titled "End Middle Beginning."

BANISHED (SCR/DIR Deirdre Towers, USA, 2015, TRT 6'28".) CAT: Dance Film

Dedicated to all artists whose work was banned by authorities, this short was inspired by the fact that performers of Zarabande -- singers and dancers alike -- were either beaten or exiled in late 1500s, Spain. A banished dancer continues to practice her art which changes as she adjusts to her new home in the wild. Premiered at Dance Camera Istanbul, and has screened at Brazil's 2015 Dança em Foco. (New York premiere. In English)

THUNDER LOVE (SCR/DIR Antonio Deckard Gamboa, USA 2015. TRT 2:51)

A TRICKY TREAT (SCR Kamal John Iskander, DIR Patricia Chica, CANADA/EL SALVADOR, 2015, TRT 3'11"). CAT: Horror, Comedy

Bronx World Film hosted Patricia Chica's first-ever New York City retrospective in the summer of 2013, and this is her second visit. In this new comedic short, which has swept awards in horror festivals across the world almost as soon as its release, a man is kidnapped by a very strange family. Two kids hold his fate in their hands. A Tricky Treat presents a shocking tale of the unexpected with a twist!

THE RED CILINDRIUM (SCR/DIR Paco Vázquez, PUERTO RICO, 2015, TRT 10'58"). CAT: Sci-Fi

A sci-fi comedy with a twist that renders tribute to 1920s silent films. In the beginning of times, four superior beings traveled through space looking for an inhabited planet in order to create a new kind of life form. A freak accident caused by Major Voltrox destroyed the ship's energy source (The Red Cillindrium), forcing them to crash-land on a planet. Now they have to find another Red Cillindrium in order to fix their spacecraft.

SEXUAL MEDITATION (SCR/DIR Elvira Martínez/Emanuel Piton. FRANCE, 2014. TRT 72 sec). CAT: Sci-Fi

GRISI SIKNIS (SCR/DIR Luis Zavala. HONDURAS, 2014. TRT 27'38") CAT: Horror/Supernatural

Erika seeks a cure for her mental/spiritual illness. In that process she runs into her best friend, Mónica, who takes Erika to the house where she grew up, to the house that conceals the memories that Erika has repressed and which supposedly have to be brought to the light.
