An Octavia Experience
A little about the artist....
Octavia began singing at the age of 3. Her first audience was the Congregation of her Grandfather's church, "Faith Temple Church of Christ", in Miami, Florida. Being a Church kid, Octavia was raised on a great deal of Gospel Music including Dr Mattie Moss Clark & The Clark Sisters, The Hawkins Family and the late Rev. James Cleveland.
Her musical prowess earned her acceptance into the Center for Performing Arts in the 3rd Grade and acceptance into the Performing and Visual Arts Center at Miami Northwestern Senior High School. By her teenage years Octavia, by then aptly nicknamed "Songbird", won many shows and in her senior year won the Gold Medal for Contemporary Solo Artist in the NAACP Act-so Competition. "A Star Was Born."
Octavia began her professional career in theater in the hit Gospel Play by Michael Matthews: "Secret Lovers" where she played a lead role and also understudied Melba Moore. She went on to tour internationally with A few of Marvelous Entertainment's other hit Productions such as, "GOD Don't Like Ugly" and "A Fool For Love", giving her the opportunity to share the stage with such amazing performers as Ollie Ali Woodson (The Temptations) Johnny gill, Sean Levert, , Charlie Wilson (the Gap Band) and Shemar Moore.
Live and In studio Octavia has been blessed to work with some of today's most notable talents: Jill Scott, Jamie Foxx, El Debarge, Ne-Yo, Kanye West, Common, Mos Def, Bobby Brown, Keyshia Cole, Al B Sure, the always "Unforgettable" Natalie Cole and more.
Octavia is currently working on her debut album "Vulnerable" and is developing a docudrama about her life and her journey to stardom. She wants her fans to see every disappointment, every heartbreak, as a lesson learned and a step towards Victory.
According to Octavia; "The road has been everything but easy, but with Faith all things are possible."
Through her music, Octavia's goal is to encourage people to love themselves just the way they are.
