He thinks she is an exotic beauty eager for a pleasant but temporary romance. She thinks he is the husband of her dreams, here to rescue her from a dreary life. Neither foresees the tragedy to come. The story of Madama Butterfly is both ancient and modern, brought to life with Puccini's blend of gorgeous Italian melodies with exotic Japanese touches and some of Chicago's finest singers. Main Street Opera presents Madama Butterfly at four different locations this September:
