Event
Traction!
Traction seeks to bring together farm workers of all ages to discuss workplace dynamics between farm workers and farm managers, to heal inter-community relationships and to encourage and inspire anti-oppression techniques on small and large farms. This event will take place over an evening September 18th and the following day, September 19th 2015. General laborers and collective members amongst others are also encouraged to attend and share anti-oppression tools or to learn more about these practices. Workshops will be held on the following topics: world class struggle, anti-oppression language, native peoples movement, migrant worker's movement, interpersonal dynamics, and community building. Workshops will be facilitated by Traction organizers and skilled community members using readings, workplace scenarios, and communication tools to spark introspection and dialogue. Attendees will be able to choose between two workshops during each time block. After the three workshop blocks, their will be time for small group processing, followed by a large-group debrief. The goal of Traction is for attendees to honor our efforts to hold these conversations by utilizing and sharing new tools and skills around communication, workplace dynamics and anti-oppression as they return to their respective communities, farms and places of work. The Anti-Oppression in Agriculture Academy will be available to provide ongoing support to attendees by maintaining the relationships formed and an openness to continue these conversations.
If you are interested in attending this event, in holding these conversations with us, please RSVP.
Please bring your own plate + cup + utensils. This is a clean & sober event.
