Oktoberfest at Wyebrook Farm
Wyebrook Farm in HoneyBrook will be the host location again this year for the Oktoberfest event benefitting the historic stone walls located in West Nantmeal Township. The date for this year's event is Saturday September 12th. Doors will open at 5:00 pm and the event features live entertainment, Wyebrook-style German food, along with a silent auction and Cow Pie Bingo. Victory Brewing has generously donated 2 types of beer including their very popular Festbier. Chadds Ford Winery will once again provide their hard cider, perfect for Oktoberfest! Local businesses and artisans are slated to donate items for the silent auction as well.
This event is a fundraiser to repair the stone walls built over 100 years ago. In 1894, the last iron furnace operation in Chester County ceased operating. The Isabella Furnace workers, no longer employed, were tasked by the Furnace owner to build 15 miles of stone walls. These walls are a unique feature of West Nantmeal and are rapidly deteriorating.
The funds raised will help to stabilize the walls, create jobs, teach the art of stone wall building, increase real estate values, and increase safety for motorists and pedestrians in the surrounding community.
The West Nantmeal Twp Historical Commission is the event sponsor and encourages everyone (adults only please) to join the festivities at Wyebrook Farm and get a real taste of an Oktoberfest. Tickets are limited and can be purchased online or at the West Nantmeal Township office in Elverson. To learn more and purchase tickets, visit www.westnantmealhc.org, www.wyebrookfarm.com, or call 610-286-9722.
